The cover picture shows in a schematic and simplified way, a Write‐Lock‐Read‐Unlock‐Erase cycle based on the photochromic properties of the 4′‐hydroxy‐3‐methylflavylium ion. This cycle works as a dual mode system and constitutes a basis for an optical memory with multiple storage and nondestructive readout capacity. The cycle starts from the cis ‐chalcone anion (Cc − ) at pH = 11 and goes on by means of light and acid/base stimuli. The green lines correspond to light irradiation at 365 nm, the pH jumps are indicated by red (to pH = 1) and blue (to pH = 11) lines and the status of the system is read by UV/Vis absorption spectroscopy. Details are discussed in the article by F. Pina, M. Maestri et al. on p. 2699 ff.
