Indium(III) complexes [L R InTp*]X {L R = (cyclopentadienyl)tris[diorganylphosphi(ni)to‐ P ]cobaltate(1−) [η 5 ‐(C 5 H 5 )Co{PR 2 (O)} 3 ] − , R = OCH 3 , CH 2 CH 3 ; Tp* = hydrotris(3,5dimethylpyrazol‐1‐yl)borate} have been prepared from [Tp*InCl 2 (NCCH 3 )] and AgL OMe or TlL Et . Alternatively, equilibration of a 1:1 mixture of the homoleptic complexes [In(L OMe ) 2 ][PF 6 ] and [In(Tp) 2 ][PF 6 ] in aqueous methanol slowly yielded the heteroleptic indium(III) complex [L OMe InTp][PF 6 ]. An X‐ray crystal structure determination revealed a fac ‐N 3 O 3 coordination sphere for the [L OMe InTp][InCl 4 ] complex. These indium compounds represent the first structurally characterized complexes where the tripodal oxygen ligand L R and the tripodal nitrogen ligand Tp are coordinated to the same metal center. Indium(III) is classified as a class a, i.e. a hard metal ion, but it evidently prefers an antisymbiotic arrangement of ligands.
