The synthesis and properties of 1‐(8‐quinolyl)‐2,3,4,5‐tetramethylcyclopentadienyl‐thallium(I) ( 1 ) are described. The functionalised cyclopentadienyl ligand coordinates to the thallium through the five‐membered ring and the nitrogen atom. Whereas the NMR investigation indicates a monomeric structure in solution, the crystal structure analysis shows the tendency to form an infinite zigzag polymeric chain in the solid state.
