The reaction of dimesityl telluride ( 2 ) with bis(pentafluorophenyl) diselenide ( 1 ), Br 2 and AgSbF 6 provides small amounts of crystalline [Mes 2 TeSeC 6 F 5 ][SbF 6 ] ( 3 ). The main products, however, are [Mes 2 TeTeMes][SbF 6 ] ( 4 ) and MesSeC 6 F 5 ( 5 ). Reactions of 2 with Br 2 and AgSbF 6 provide − depending on the stoichiometric ratio − 4 and [Mes 3 Te][SbF 6 ] ( 6 ) or [Mes 2 TeBr][SbF 6 ] ( 7 ). 2 , Mes 2 Te 2 , Br 2 and AgSbF 6 provide 4 in a fair yield. Addition of 2 to 4 leads to the tritellurium salt [Mes 5 Te 3 ][SbF 6 ] ( 8 ). Cation−anion interactions due to the α‐heteroatom electrophilicity of RSe‐, RTe‐ and Br‐substituted telluronium salts are followed by structure determinations of 3 , 4 , 6 , 7 and 8 and by Raman‐spectroscopic observations of the Te−Te vibrations in compounds 4 and 8 .
