A novel hexanuclear iron(III) complex [Fe 6 (C 7 H 11 NO 5 ) 6 (μ 2 ‐O) 3 Na][NO 3 ]·18H 2 O has been synthesised from N ‐(2‐hydroxypropyl)iminodiacetic acid and has been shown by X‐ray crystallography to possess a prismatic structure containing a sodium ion in the core.
