By embedding a pair of bent slots close to the side edges, novel dual‐frequency operation of a single‐feed equilateral‐triangular microstrip antenna is presented and experimentally studied. The two operating frequencies have parallel polarization planes and similar broadside‐radiation patterns. A tunable frequency ratio of the two frequencies ranging from about 1.2 to 1.43 is obtained by varying the lengths and positions of the bent slots. Details of the proposed dual‐frequency design are described, and experimental results are presented and discussed. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 28: 389–391, 2001.
