A novel approach to the analysis of nonlinear circuits, derived from the modeling of mm‐wave frequency multipliers, is presented. This approach is based on the combined use of the genetic algorithm and the harmonic balance technique. The application of the method to the optimization of mm‐wave frequency multipliers is reported. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 28: 268–271, 2001.
