A novel, simple, and flexible WDM laser source is demonstrated using a loop erbium‐doped fiber amplifier. Two configurations of the source are investigated where reflecting FBGs are cascaded in series or parallel at the loop outputs. High output power per channel with a signal‐to‐noise ratio better than 55 dB can be achieved. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 28: 187–189, 2001.
