The frequency transformation that transforms an even‐order elliptic response from class A into class C in order to realize canonical microwave filters using identical resonators can be further exploited to realize longitudinal microwave filters. The application of the transformation to an eight‐order filter is demonstrated. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 28: 153–155, 2001.
