Abstract An antenna array synthesis method based on the simulated annealing algorithm is presented. The synthesis is carried out on the total electrical far field in magnitude and polarization. This method uses the flexibility of the simulated annealing technique to optimize both complex feed currents and angular arrangements of the elements. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
