An all‐optical linearization scheme in a serially cascaded EAM using different derivative signs of the transfer function of an EAM is proposed. Both the IMD3 and IMD5 supressions are obtained at the same dc bias voltage, and 15 dB of SFDR enhancement is achieved in narrowband operation. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
