We propose and demonstrate the use of bent long‐period fiber gratings to compensate for the polarization sensitivity of an EDFA's equalized gain spectrum. An excursion in the spectrum of 4 dB due to polarization fluctuations is reduced to 2 dB by compensation. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 27: 419–422, 2000.
