A fractal expanded antenna with the configuration of a triangular microstrip patch antenna is presented. In the fundamental and higher mode of the TFA (triangular fractal antenna), resonant frequencies are controlled by changing the scaling factor. The expansion and concentration phenomena of resonant frequencies are observed with the variation of the scaling factor. The resonant frequency in each fractal patch element is observed log‐periodically. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 27: 41–46, 2000.
