This paper presents accurate theoretical and practical results to calculate the series feedback source inductance, using source leads, of a packaged device. This technique was applied to a C‐band low‐noise and high‐gain amplifier to obtain a 0.95 dB noise figure and 52.5 dB gain. This technique also enhances the stability of the amplifier. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 26: 355–357, 2000.
