A dc‐voltage‐controlled optoelectronic phase shifter (OEPS) for continuous tuning the phase of an optically distributed microwave signal is demonstrated. The maximum phase‐tuning range and gain of the OEPS is ≈340° and 64°/V. The short‐term fluctuation and long‐term drift in phase are about 0.047° and 0.0034°/min. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
