Sixty‐four female undergraduates were assigned to a male or female experimenter and required to estimate body widths for the waist, hips, and thighs. Level of inaccuracy was determined by comparing estimates with actual site sizes. Experimenter gender had no effect on levels of size‐estimation accuracy. The results are discussed with regard to the need to further manipulate aspects of subject samples and experimenter characteristics to determine possible confounding factors in body image research.
