Are the eating disorders becoming more common in blacks

Until recently, eating disorders were rare among blacks in this country. A recent increase in referrals of black patients may herald an increase in the prevalence of the disorders among this population. The author speculates that an interplay of biological and sociocultural factors could best account for this increased prevalence.
