The development and main issues of an ongoing group for spouses of patients with anorexia nervosa and/or bulimia are reported. The need of these individuals for information, and for sharing feelings of isolation, frustration, anger, and guilt are discussed. Other common themes discussed are those related to control of the eating behavior of the spouse, relationships with family members and children, and common personality characteristics of the wives. The therapist's perspective on the group and recommendations for future groups are presented. This group was found to provide a useful adjunct to the treatment of these patients.
