This paper describes the features of an outpatient program for bulimic patients at normal body weight. The program aims at the removal of dietary manipulation (without the development of a weight disorder) and the recognition and new management of emotional and social factors that generate the symptoms. The program is eclectic in orientation and is divided into ten sessions of individual and group therapy. The treatment uses a graduated contract, a series of structured controls, and formal behavioral, supportive, and insight‐directed psychotherapy.
