Reported the relationship between age, education, and performance on a battery of psychological and neuropsychological tests. S s were 55 patients with symptomatic carotid artery disease (both TIA and completed stroke). Contrary to previous studies, there was no relationship between age and test performance, but there was a relationship between education and test performance. When the S s were grouped according to level of education, the grade school group performed more poorly than both the high school and university groups on a variety of measures. These results were discussed in regard to their relation to previous studies and in the implications of these findings for clinical practice.
