Evaluated 100 neurological patients with an unequivocal diagnosis of neurological disorders on two neuropsychological tests, the Benton Visual Retention Test (BVRT) and the Memory‐For‐Designs Test (MFD), for evidence of impaired retention. The BVRT score, the number correct and error scores, were significantly more effective in eliciting a defective visual retention score than was the MFD, p = >.001. It is suggested the BVRT be selected in evaluating patients with mild to moderate brain damage.
