Assessed the validity of a brief form of the WAIS in the evaluation of a nonclinical population. The short form was composed of three subtests: Similarities, Picture Arrangement, and Block Design. The sample consisted of 48 males and 61 females who were all undergraduate students in introductory psychology classes. The correlation was computed between the weighted IQ scores and the Full Scale IQ. A correlation of .90 for the nonclinical population was particularly noteworthy. Moreover, this triad of subtests underestimated the IQ for the nonclinical group by 9.29 points, which suggests that the constant used with this population should be corrected appropriately.
