Methodological and conceptual flaws in previous studies of the Stroop Color‐Word Test as a measure of hierarchic integration were examined, and then correlational data were presented to support the use of the Stroop as an operational measure of such integration. Several other studies supportive of this conclusion also were discussed briefly.
