The diagnostic efficiency of the MMPI 168 and the standard MMPI was compared on three private psychiatric subpopulations: a hospitalized adult infatient sample, a hospitalized adolescent inpatient sample, and an outpatient sample composed of vocational rehabilitation referals. The MMPI 168 was found to be a viable alternative to the standard Form R on all three groups by separating invalid from valid profiles, normal from abnormal profiles, and by differentiating among neurotic, psychotic, characterological, and indeterminate profiles.
