The IR and polarized Raman spectra of anilinium hydrogenphosphite, C 6 H 5 NH 3 + HPO 3 H − , were recorded and analysed. All the characteristic IR and Raman bands of the monosubstituted benzene ring, C 6 H 5 NH 3 + , and the hydrogenphosphite ion, HPO 3 H − , were identified. Both the ions occupy lower site symmetry in the crystal lattice. Strong hydrogen bonding in the compound is indicated by ABC bands. Copyright © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
