A crystal of the non‐linear and laser matrix Ca 4 GdO(BO 3 ) 3 (GdCOB) was grown by the Czochralski technique and polarized Raman scattering spectra were measured along its crystallophysic optical axes. A vibrational assignment is proposed in correlation with the two crystallographic types of (BO 3 ) 3− groups that are responsible for the non‐linearity of the matrix.
