Small cell carcinoma of the lung developed in a patient with previously diagnosed hairy cell leukemia. Treatment with aggressive chemotherapy resulted in a complete response in both diseases lasting 13 months. Recurrence of the leukemia did not occur. This case demonstrates that hairy cell leukemia may be responsive to combination regimens.
