Twenty pleomorphic adenomas of human salivary glands were studied by means of specific immunohis‐tochemical methods. Material reacting with antihuman saliva antiserum has been detected in epithelial structures of all pleomorphic adenomas. The myxoid stroma was immunohistochemically negative. Both PAS and immunohistochemical reactions in the same section indicate that there is no close relationship between the results of these procedures. This study suggests that the pleomorphic adenomas can be considered epithelial tumors of salivary distal gland cells retaining or developing specific exocrine capability.
