Several authors have documented the phenomenon of spontaneous cavitation within both primary lung cancers and metastatic pulmonary nodules. Cavitation after treatment, particularly chemotherapy, has not been emphasized. We report on 3 patients who developed radiographic evidence of cavitation of pulmonary metastases as a direct response to systemic chemotherapy.
