The problem of membrane‐associated tumor antigens is of paramount importance at the present time. Many attempts have been made to prove their presence in experimental and human tumors. Immunochemical studies have demonstrated three different tumor antigens: CEA, NCA, and MTA. Auto‐immunity studies have also had some success in characterizing these antigens. Much research remains to be done in this potentially rewarding field.
