Attempts were made to obtain “anti‐tumor globulin” serum by immunization of rabbits with electrophoretically purified globulins derived from human cancer sera by the method of Tal and Halperin. Although an absorbed, mono‐specific anti‐serum was obtained which produced a precipitation arc with an alpha‐2 macroglobulin fraction of serum from patients with cancer, the same arc was noted with normal human serum. This fraction was demonstrated immunoelectrophoretically in 50 normal and 115 human cancer sera. Thus, in our laboratory, it was not possible to demonstrate a “T‐globulin” which was unique to the serum of patients with malignant neoplastic disease.
