A case of ultrastructurally proven bronchial carcinoid in an adolescent with clinical evidence of metastasis to the choroid of both eyes is reported. The ocular metastasis following bronchial carcinoids is most unusual; there are only three previous reports. Ultrastructurally, neurosecretory granules similar to those seen in foregut carcinoid were found in this tumor. Furthermore, transmission of granules along the microfilaments and microtubules, a mechanism similar to that of insulin secretion, was observed. Structures, identical to neurosecretory granules, were found in the endothelial cells and pericytes. Contraction of some endothelial cells was also suggested.
