Laminaria tents were used in 18 patients a total of 23 times to dilate the cervix prior to insertion of intracavitary radium. In two instances the patient became febrile and the laminaria was removed. In 21 instances the radium placement was successful. The laminaria tent has proved to be a satisfactory and simple method for dilating the cervix in selected patients.
