A case of radiation‐induced breast cancer is reported in a woman who had been fluoroscoped repeatedly for control of therapeutically‐induced pneumothorax over 40 years before. The more superficial breast tissue probably received about 2400 R. Data on prevalence of breast cancer in various population groups support the conclusion that human mammary tissue appears to be only slightly susceptible to radiation carcinogenesis.
