Fifty patients with metastatic malignant melanoma were treated with vaccines prepared by coupling goat serum gamma globulins to cells from their own tumors. With a minimum follow‐up of 18 months, it is believed that two patients showed definite objective remissions and four others had an unusual course of disease which might be a result of immunotherapy. Two other methods of active immunization with tumor cells were explored in small groups of patients, without evidence of success.
