A case of verrucous carcinoma of the cervix is reported, and the literature concerning verrucous carcinoma of the female genital tract is reviewed. The characteristic gross, microscopic, and clinical features are presented. The slow growing, insidious nature of the lesion with its tendency for local recurrence and lack of distant metastasis would indicate that wide local excision is the treatment of choice. This unusual type of female genital cancer has characteristics sufficiently different from other genital tract malignancies to warrant classification as a separate clinicopathologic entity. This is the first report of cervical cancer of this type.
