Diagnostic laparotomy has been used as a staging aid after complete medical evaluation of 15 patients with non‐Hodgkin's lymphoma. The stage of disease was altered by the surgical procedure in 7 of the 15 patients and is recommended for all patients with Stages I, II, or III non‐Hodgkin's lymphoma.
