Sarcoma 1, a tumor which metastasizes almost exclusively to lymph nodes, was implanted on the hind feet of A/jax mice. The tumor‐bearing feet were amputated after the rumor had metastasized to the regional nodes. While the nodes were small there were no demonstrable tumor cells in the blood, but when the nodal metastases became large, tumors could be transferred to new mice by injecting their thighs with the blood or lungs of the tumor‐bearing mice.
