Sixty ureteric stumps from 30 total cystectomy specimens of cases with bladder cancer have been examined in detail. It could be shown that these ureters show a wide range of morphological changes—never seen in ureters from non‐malignant cases—amounting to carcinoma in situ in some cases. The significance of these findings is discussed, and it is suggested that the wide field change previously described in the urinary bladder may affect the entire urothelium.
