Therapeutic and toxic effects of acetylenic carbamate (l, l‐diphenyl‐2‐propynyl cyclohexylcarbamate) were evaluated in 37 children with acute leukemia or solid tumors resistant to conventional chemotherapeutic agents. The agent was administered orally by two schedules—100 mg/m 2 of body surface area daily or 300 mg/m 2 twice weekly. Objective responses were observed in 3 of 9 children with neuroblastoma. Twelve children with acute lymphocytic leukemia and 16 with other types of cancer failed to respond. Toxicity included nausea, vomiting, anorexia, and severe myelosuppression.
