The use of the “immunologically competent cell” or the cell with immunologic memory affords interest and potential value in the treatment of certain cancers. In theory and in laboratory practice, the “knowledgeable cell” may induce the lymphocyte‐forming organs of the recipient to produce lymphocytes with the same immunologic potential of the donor. Presumably then, if the recipient is able to produce immune cells he might then resist or reject his own cancer by virtue of the newly developed lymphocytes. It would seem more specific, and to offer less interaction with other factors of the general circulatory system of the recipient, if the immunologically competent cells were to be introduced directly into the immunity‐producing system of the recipient.
