The findings in the case of a man with solitary extramedullary plasmacytoma of the skin and a review of the world literature are presented. This is the seventh reported case of solitary extramedullary plasmacytoma of the skin. In our case, the tumor mass was surgically excised and a recurrence was treated with hemipelvectomy and radiation therapy. At necropsy, the tumor mass had extended into the peritoneal cavity with metastasis to the liver, pancreas, and thyroid, but there was no bone marrow involvement. The differentiation of extramedullary plasmacytoma of the skin from multiple myeloma is discussed as is therapy for this disease.
