A 5‐year study revealed the incidence of thyroid cancer on Oahu, Hawaii, to be the highest in the world in women and among the highest in men. Of the 5 ethnic groups that were studied (i.e., Caucasian, Chinese, Filipino, Hawaiian, and Japanese), the age‐specific and age‐standardized incidence in all groups was higher than in comparison populations. It was especially elevated in women of Chinese ancestry.
