Radiation therapy given expertly and in moderate tumor‐dose courses is recommended for the control of symptoms in patients with nonresectable cancer of the colon and rectum. In this review of 165 patients undergoing palliative radiation therapy, more than 50 percent had definite symptomatic and objective response. Over 80 percent of patients with localized disease, particularly intrapelvic, received significant palliation.
