A leukocyte cell line designated R.P.M.I.‐1196, derived from the peripheral blood of a healthy female individual, has been cultivated for over 20 months, and the indications are that it has an indefinite life expectancy. During the period of investigation, the cells maintained a high degree of diploidy, and they were not neoplastic, as tested by the implantation into hamster cheek pouch method.
