Three colonic tumors are presented, within which adenocarcinomatous areas were associated with foci suggestive of carcinoidal differentiation. The phenomenon is not regarded as purely coincidental. It is proposed that this possibility may reflect a closer histogenetic relationship between the argentaffin and colonic mucin‐secreting cells than has been appreciated. It is, furthermore, suggested that the phenomenon may occur within other organs containing both endocrine and nonendocrine components.
