Records of 1226 women with invasive carcinoma of the cervix admitted to the gynecologic oncology service were reviewed. Ten patients with ureteral strictures secondary to therapy were found; 3 had been treated exclusively with irradiation, and 7 had had combined irradiation‐radical surgery. Predisposing factors, manifestations of the strictures, types of management, and prevention are discussed. Importance of tissue diagnosis to prove or disprove tumor as the cause of ureteral obstruction is stressed, in order to allow renal salvage in the patient without residual tumor. Follow‐up of treated patients by interval intravenous pyelograms is outlined.
