This paper is a follow‐up report concerning a patient originally interpreted as having an inflammatory pseudotumor of the stomach (eosinophilic granuloma of the stomach) following a 70% subtotal gastrectomy. Two and one half years after surgery the patient died and at autopsy was found to have scirrhous carcinoma of the stomach with metastases. This case is reported as a correction of the original report and to emphasize the problem of pathologic diagnosis in certain forms of scirrhous carcinoma. It also suggests that a clinical follow‐up of more than 2 years may be necessary.
