The over‐all experience in Connecticut with oral cancer from 1935 through 1959 involves 2268 patients. The 973 patients with cancer of the tongue and the 476 patients with lesions of the floor of mouth were the subject of earlier reviews. The present report is concerned with the 819 patients whose lesions involved buccal (cheek) mucosa, palate or gingiva. Seventy‐five per cent of the patients were men and 73.6% of all patients were between ages 50 and 79. Most lesions were epidermoid carcinoma and in 56.3% the disease was localized at the time of diagnosis. In treatment, 34.4% were subjected to surgical measures alone, 45.5% to irradiation alone and 14.1% to some combination of the two modalities. The relative 5‐ycar relative survival rate for the over‐all group was 41.7%, with the survival for those having localized disease being 55.2%.
