Patients with multiple as well as single fractures frequently survive a significant length of time postoperatively and therefore, internal fixation can be selected as a good method of paliating and mobilizing an otherwise bedridden cancer patient in pain. A total of 63 patients with cancer of the breast with pathologic fractures were treated by internal fixation, and these were subdivided into those who did and did not have previous adrenalectomies. A shorter survival time after pathologic fractures in the previously adrenalectomized patients is noted.
